Crane Pose or Bakasana

How? Some keys to this posture are...
First be able to do some (lots really) push-ups and planks without grunting or wobbling:) Once you've developed some strength...a huge key to crane is tucking the legs and knees in close. See how there is almost no space between my legs and torso as well as the knees up high by my arm pits. This balances the majority of weight right above the hands and the tucking keeps the legs stuck to the arms. Keep breathing! You can check out a video of the entrance here http://www.youtube.com/user/DetroitYoga#p/u/11/ntJUGrT89kU

Down Dog

All of my dogs do this stretch when they get up from a nap. This is an awesome stretching and strengthening yoga posture! Key things to remember = Hands grounded a little wider than the shoulders (balls of the fingers down as well as the palms), Chest presses back only until you have a line from hands to up the hips, Press the legs back behind the knees until straight (may take weeks or months), once legs are straight lengthen from the hips to the heels with the feet hips width apart. So the end result will have a charge or energetic press from the hands up to the hips and over down to the heels. Full name = Downward Facing Dog Posture 0r Adho Mukha Svanasana. I hope this helps you with your yoga practice! ~ Jason

Detroit Yoga (Union)

Here's a Detroit fun fact for ya... Detroit installed the first mile of paved concrete road, just north of the Model T plant, on Woodward Avenue between McNichols and 7 Mile Roads in 1909.
This is actually close to my house...there is a small marker on the side of the right that tells briefly about it. I'm just going to clarify a bit...First mile of concrete road in the world.

Sweet People Mover

I don't really want to talk about the people mover...other than I really like the concrete structure itself with all it's curves and what not. I steal a picture of it most every time I'm near it. That's all...it looks neat.
