Revolved Side Angle Posture
Here is an old (2004) photo of myself (Jason Schramm) practicing on a roof top downtown Detroit during the fourth of July fireworks. Not so much demonstrative, as it is cool looking :)

Eka Pada Koundinyasana
How? Back to basics. Having polished basics is key...Triangles, Side Angles, Warriors, Planks and Push-ups. An advanced technique is a basic one that is mastered.

Boat Pose / Navasana
Henry Ford said that if you divide a large task into small enough parts it'll get done easily. Apply that same theory to boat pose. Pictured here is a modified boat with the knees bent...in order to work on getting the legs straight, try doing so in small increments over weeks or months of practice.
If you'd like to see a video going over keys to boat check out this link http://www.youtube.com/user/DetroitYoga#p/a/u/0/t8xpZyi_1Go

Side Crane / Parsva Bakasana
Did you know that in the 1930's & 40's about one quarter of the population of Detroit (400,000+ people) were emigrants? Detroit was the place to be!
As for side crane pose...if you'd like to see a video on how to enter the posture check this link http://www.youtube.com/user/DetroitYoga#p/u/4/rK351_v1c38

Crane Pose or Bakasana
How? Some keys to this posture are...
First be able to do some (lots really) push-ups and planks without grunting or wobbling:) Once you've developed some strength...a huge key to crane is tucking the legs and knees in close. See how there is almost no space between my legs and torso as well as the knees up high by my arm pits. This balances the majority of weight right above the hands and the tucking keeps the legs stuck to the arms. Keep breathing! You can check out a video of the entrance here http://www.youtube.com/user/DetroitYoga#p/u/11/ntJUGrT89kU

Down Dog
All of my dogs do this stretch when they get up from a nap. This is an awesome stretching and strengthening yoga posture! Key things to remember = Hands grounded a little wider than the shoulders (balls of the fingers down as well as the palms), Chest presses back only until you have a line from hands to up the hips, Press the legs back behind the knees until straight (may take weeks or months), once legs are straight lengthen from the hips to the heels with the feet hips width apart. So the end result will have a charge or energetic press from the hands up to the hips and over down to the heels. Full name = Downward Facing Dog Posture 0r Adho Mukha Svanasana. I hope this helps you with your yoga practice! ~ Jason
